Gunston Soccer Club proudly announces the appointment of Max Von Rabenau as its new Director of Coaching. Max brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our club having most recently served as the Technical Director at Fredericksburg Soccer Club, where he successfully implemented innovative coaching methodologies and developed a comprehensive game model. Max has also been serving on the coaching staff for the USYS Olympic Development Program.

Max holds several prestigious licenses and qualifications including a U.S. Soccer Federation National A License, United Soccer Coaches Video Performance Analysis (Levels 1&2), and a United Soccer Coaches Director of Coaching Diploma. Additionally, he has earned a Masters of Coaching and Leadership Degree from the University of Delaware, demonstrating his dedication to continuous learning and improvement. With a proven track record at organizations such as the Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns, Max's expertise spans all levels of the game, from grassroots development to professional soccer, which will align him seamlessly with the ambitions at Gunston Soccer Club.

In his new role as Director of Coaching, under the technical direction of Gunston’s Executive Director, Dave Sanford, Max will oversee Gunston’s travel program, spearhead the development of a cohesive game model and travel curriculum, and provide ongoing education and support to our coaching staff. Max’s strategic planning and administrative expertise will be instrumental in furthering the growth and success of Gunston Soccer Club’s travel program and overall operations.

Together, with their backgrounds with the DC United and Portland Timbers academies, Max and Dave will be uniquely positioned to help all of our players take their games to the next level. With Max taking on the role of Director of Coaching, Dave Sanford will assume the role of Technical Director while also continuing as Gunston’s Executive Director.
